·       Label it properly

·       Layer the bottom of the box properly

Use old towels or bed covers to secure the bottom of the box. Make sure the bottom is equally packed as the top part of the box. Maintain a distance of at least two inches between the edges and the contents inside the box.

Packing paper and crumpled newspapers can be used to layer the bottom of the container. The size of this layer should be directly proportional to the number of items in the box.

·       Wrap items separately

For this, you may want lots of newspapers and packing paper. Don’t put more than one glass or dish in a single sheet of newspaper. Always pack them individually. This will protect the glassware from banging into each other.

For dishes, you can lay the bowl or plate in the middle of the paper and fold the sides. For glasses, keep the wrapping sheet on the ground, and starting from one end, start rolling the glass with the wrapping sheet.

Roll it diagonally and tuck the ends of the wrapping sheet on the upper and lower side. Put an extra layer of packing tape to secure the packing.

For things like lamp bases and vases, you may need numerous sheets. Whether it is a wine glass, or crystal cowls or even light bulbs should be packed with enough packing paper all over.

All you must remember is to check for open spaces inside the box so that, the items can’t bang into each other.

·       Place the heaviest things in the bottom of the box

If you have a big box and are looking to place all the items in the box, you may have to create several layers of small boxes. Don’t forget to keep a cushion of two-inch of packing paper in between them.

While placing the items, make sure you place the heaviest items in the bottom layer. Just put extra packing tape on the bottom of the box to secure it effectively.

·       Place lamp base, vases, and glasses vertically in the box

Bowls, plates are of specific shapes and can be packed in one way. When it comes to fragile items of irregular shapes, you’ll need to finesse to pack and place them. You need to place large items in an upright position inside the dish pack. The lamp base or big vases may break in half in case the box is mishandled accidentally.

Don’t mix bowls with vases and cups. Keep them separate to ensure the safety of your fragile items.
